Emerging Technologies & Specialised Training

Emerging Technologies & Specialised Training

The technologies past the hype and not yet standard practice. Fifteen courses covering IoT systems, digital twins, robotics, autonomous systems, quantum computing, enterprise blockchain, and space and satellite communications.

The framing is deliberately unromantic. Each course is structured to answer three questions: what this can do now, what it cannot do yet, and what it would take to run it in production. Quantum Computing Fundamentals is an eight-hour awareness course rather than a six-week program because that is an honest reflection of where the technology is for most organisations — worth understanding, not yet worth building on. Digital Twin Engineering is a full day because manufacturers and utilities are deploying them today.

Metaverse & Web3 Basics is free, which is the clearest signal we can send about how to treat it: worth an afternoon of your attention, and we would rather you spent that afternoon than your budget.

Where to start

  • Scanning the horizon — Metaverse & Web3 Basics — free — then Quantum Computing Fundamentals.
  • Industrial and utilities — IoT Systems Design & Security · Digital Twin Engineering · Robotics Fundamentals.
  • Infrastructure — Edge Computing & 5G Integration · Space Tech & Satellite Communications.
  • Regulated deployment — Drone Technology & Regulations · Autonomous Systems Engineering.

Common questions

Is the drone course a licence?

No. Commercial drone operation in Australia requires CASA accreditation or a remote pilot licence, obtained through CASA or an approved provider. This course covers the technology and the regulatory landscape. It is not the licence and does not substitute for it.

Why is the quantum course so short?

Because a longer one would be padding. For almost every organisation the useful outcome is understanding what problems quantum computing will and will not affect, and what "harvest now, decrypt later" means for your encryption roadmap. That fits in eight hours.

Do these courses date quickly?

Faster than the rest of the catalogue, which is why they are rebuilt each intake. It is also why credentials in this category carry a shorter recertification interval.
